Thanksgiving Morning

Thanksgiving morning

Today’s for being thankful

Everyone is here

Family gathered around the table

We were missing someone on this day

Who was it, you would say?

Tears of happiness, joy, and pain

My dad had a heart attack thanksgiving day

Thank god I was home

To save his life

Because without my dad, I would be lost in life

My first heartbreak came on this day

Not even knowing what to say

Rushing into the hospital

Just to be told to wait

When in this moment, I was filled with so much hate

Hated the doctors, the nurses, the wait

I just wanted my dad

And what did I get?

I got my dad back on this day

I was so happy, I didn’t know what to say

The doctors had told me I saved his life

Thank god I did, because he is MY life

Thanksgiving day, 2017

I grew up in ways I wouldn’t believe

I realized every day is not promised

But to always be truthful, caring, and honest

Love those around you

And then you’ll see

Life is full of surprises, more than you believe
