That's Just Life
This is for the people who hold onto tomorrow
For the teens that hide all their sorrow
For the ones that desire to speak out
But the others seem to have a louder shout
That’s just life
The girl who gets her heartbroken by a player
Or by the crush who won’t date her
The couples that say “I do”
Or the ones in court screaming “Screw you”
That’s just life
The summer nights that make you wish time would stop
And the memories you hold close to your heart
The days you want to be isolated
And the nights you have the courage to say, “Hm, I think I can face it”
The families that are ripped apart
And the kids that obtain a fresh start
That’s just life
Life is filled with sorrow and regret
Those moments that make us break a sweat
But also with happiness and laughter
The days we believe we can actually have a ‘happily ever after’
But most importantly,
It is clustered with lessons
The uncontrollable ups and downs
Directionless paths that lead to smiles and frowns
The peace and the drama
The heartache and the trauma
All shape the future that remains a mystery
Yet seems so known it feels like history
So if you’re ever asked to describe life Think of a man grieving his wife
And say
When you’re sitting there reminiscing through the past Thinking, gosh why couldn’t this last
When you’ve failed and succeeded
And people think you’re so conceited
Knowing your choices are so smart
Until you give the person you love the ability to hold a knife to your heart
That’s when you’ll realize, it’s just life
