That's What They Told Me

They told me I couldn't be who I wanted to be. walking to class, being shoved into lockers, wasn't my ideal dream. Walking hand in hand with the same gender, being harassed and tormented. Got straight up beat for being who I am. They told me I couldn't be who I wanted to be. Big red letters, oh yes I remember those big red letters. Spray painted to my locker. Gay, Fag, Dike. They said they didn't want me here. They said I wouldn't make it in life. But look at me now rising above them I'm making something out of myself and it's all because, they told me I couldn't be who I wanted to be.
