The Abiding Rot
I am inhabited by an Interloper,
I feel it scratching the womb of my soul, indescribable and constant.
I rot from within, it’s spores contaminating the entrails
Its edges consume at what’s left of the organs, like mold to food.
as oxygen ignites a flame, it burns my casing.
It’s ashes fall and cinder the mantle,
marking its presence eternally.
I feel it’s maliciousness, tainting what’s left of me,
Becoming one with me, I am its host,
Excavating Marrow deep creating a home for itself, I a shell of a person.
It simmers with my blood, sleeps in my bones and swells in my heart.
It remains the most perennial thing about me.
