The Birthmother

And I hope yelling at me healed a part of you... I hope striking me made you feel something. I hope beating me made you feel empowered. The way you walked around with your chest out. I hope it made you feel like a man. Because it didn't heal anything in me. When you yelled. It terrified me. When you struck me. it made me hate you. When you beat me, I lost my trust in everything. Everything. I tried to stay out of your way. you chased me around the house. When I cried you beat me harder. My faith, my trust, my self-esteem... disappeared like my love for you. so. I hope you feel like a man... Every time you yelled, struck me or beat me. I hope you feel like a fucking man.
