The Fall into Apathy

CC BY-SA
The thick green jungle The leaves of my cares I try to traverse But I go nowhere I find a path A break from the thorns I keep on walking Is this why I was born? The path gets wider Till the leaves are far away It is peaceful This is where I want to stay I take a breath It gets harder to walk I feel it creeping in I feel the leaves stalk Step by step It gets harder to move The quicksand Lapping my boots. Soon I can't move I'm waist deep I'm so exhausted I just want to sleep It is to my chest now I don't panic I can't panic I just sink This is it This is the end There is no hope For the life I tried to mend But as my head Falls under the sand I find I'm falling A void, with no demand It is a peaceful fall So quiet with no one here Not caring, not hearing Into the fall into apathy
