The Feelings That Overwhelm [Old Poem]
The darkness inside
Harmful and thick
Would wish I died
Before your light found me
Blinding and easy
Filling my soul with glee
The love you make me feel
Surreal and joyous
Aids me enough to heal
The scars, the pain
Terrifying and cold
You my one true gain
You lift my shackled head
Heavy and disheveled
To some day be wed
The feelings you bestow
Lovely and sweet
Yet you don’t even know
The butterflies that take up residence
Uneasy and tight
Unable to cause me a moments hesitance
For the day brought by the dove
Heartwarming and overwhelming
May you still reciprocate my love
