The Hidden Wish
A logical lecture controls my inner psyche,
A heartfelt holler combats the lingering logic.
Here lies opposing forces with different moral values,
A place where the seas don’t seem to mix:
The Battle of the Brain and Heart.
As logic consumes justice,
Wisdom whispers his wish:
“I desire to tower over the rest.”
“I desire to live a life of lavish.”
“I desire to be the best.”
A combative force intervenes,
Emotion expresses her elegy:
“I beg for their last regret.”
“I beg for one last apology.”
“I beg that I could forgive and forget.”
A barrage of words leave physical scars:
“Follow your logic.”
“Follow your heart.”
What is the yin without the yang?
Why can’t one army just prevail instead?
In times without outside influence,
In times of utter peace and complete emptiness,
There is only a single thing I wish for,
There is only one thing I desire to have:
“I wish to quell the battle I harbor inside me.”
I want to live with freedom.
I want to make my own decisions.
I want to escape the borders of my body.
I want to unchain myself from the husk I occupy.
I want to uncage the lingering remnants of my pure soul.
Of course, I can never let them know.
