The Inevitable Eclipse
I miss you—there is no truth more bare than that.
Yet I pace the borders of your space,
whispering why, why, why into the quiet,
wondering why I cannot simply leave you alone.
You are a haunting familiarity.
You hold the blueprints to who I am,
yet you feel like a beautiful stranger,
knowing everything and nothing all at once.
Perhaps I cling to the phantom of our time,
haunted by a longevity I’ve never known elsewhere.
But the truth is, neither of us ever truly stayed.
I am the one who runs;
you are the one who breathes through the distance,
never suffocating, never demanding.
We exist in the spaces between the months,
an anchor masquerading as an escape.
I tether myself to the quiet promise of our return,
waiting for the inevitable eclipse when we collide again.
I am trapped in this beautiful, permanent ache:
destined to never fully stay,
but entirely unable to leave.
I love you.
I know that now.
