The Ocean's Voicemail

I went to the beach just to unwind, to heal It just has this certain appeal, this certain feel The feel of the sand in my toes as I walk The birds in the sky, flying in a flock The cool breeze that flies through my hair Like it was whispering secrets that I couldn't hear I couldn't help but let go of all my fears All my anger, my sadness, my tears I sat on the sand after the long stroll I stared at the ocean lost in thought; my mind on patrol The sound of the waves rolling in seemed to reach for my soul I looked out to the line where the sky met the sea Wondering why I couldn't let it be The waves continued to wash up on the shore Tides began to roll in, once, twice then three times more The ocean seems to be telling me something; if not everything My emotions, they coincide with the rise and fall of each wave I shouted across the ocean no response; leaving an echo as if in a cave The ocean has always been so calm; so peaceful It draws me in I leave a voice message for the ocean every time I come The ocean; my therapist – except it costs no time... It’s pure, truthful, but people are often just deceptive. I hate for this day to end but here it does The sunset left a shimmer of its rays along the waves Making the waves shine leaving a smile on my face Now I know why I come each day To hear what the silence has to say After a while I stood up feeling really refreshed I blew a kiss and whispered goodbye to the ocean, my closure Closure found in the sound of the waves Somewhat hoping that the tide and the wind could carry me again... The ocean seemed to keep my peace, even though I had to roam Part of my heart stayed calling the ocean – my home.
