The Only Me is Me

Who am I?

What a funny question to ask.

What makes me, me?

My brown hair?

My eyes?

My lips?

My body?

What makes me, me?

Is it the way I laugh?

The way I talk?

Where I live? Who my friends are?

Is it what I eat? What I do? What I study?

The color of my skin? My gender?

My species?

Who knows?

Well,

I do.

It is all these things and more.

I’m only a human being.

But, I am not just any human being.

I am me.

I have brown hair, blue eyes.

I have lips. It’s true, they exist.

I don’t have a perfect body, but it’s the one I live in.

I have a silly laugh.

I speak somewhat like a man in one language,

A proper lady in another.

I live on a college campus, with Geeks as my friends.

I eat what I fancy. I crochet. I study languages.

I’m a white cis woman.

But I am also a geek.

A singer.

A hopeless romantic.

I live many lives,

In the worlds of books and videogames.

I dance, when no one is watching.

I’m a friend, a sister, a daughter.

I cook, I clean, I create.

I laugh, I love, I comfort.

I cry, I yell.

I’ve wanted to die many a time,

I’ve been Anxious from just talking to a person.

I

am

Me.

And I don’t want to be anyone else.

Just little ol’ human me.

So,

You asked who I am.

You have your answer.

The real question is:
“Who are you?”

I look forward to seeing your answer.
