The Saturday I Won

It was an ordinary, random Saturday. You finally let me go, Knowing I could not— No matter how hard I tried. That exact same day, I finally let go of the girl I hated. The one who broke hearts, Burned her lungs with smoke, Did everything in anger, And carried so much hurt. You letting me go set me free, Letting me release the girl I fought so hard to lose. She held me back from the life I was meant to live, So, in a way, I am glad you walked away. I despised the person you made me into. But when you finally let me go, I won. You stayed lost in the shadows we shared, While I found my way out into the light. Because of you, I achieved everything I swore I would.
