The Two Rooms Within You
Perhaps every human being
carries two rooms within their heart...
One is vast,
its doors forever open to the world,
displaying every beautiful thing about you.
A grand room,
where your smiles and laughter
are arranged with such delicate precision,
behind glass like treasures in a gallery.
Everyone is allowed to admire it.
And yet...
There is another room.
Small.
Quiet.
Locked from the world.
That is where your cracks are kept...
where your wounds are held in silence,
and where dried tears remain
upon the walls that have grown too fragile
to bear another storm.
I know a woman
who carries both rooms within her.
The world loves the beauty
of the room she leaves open.
And perhaps it should...
Perfection is rarely left alone.
Eyes linger upon it.
Hands reach for it.
Compliments gather at its door,
only to stay for a moment
before wandering away.
But if I were one of them...
I think my heart would break.
Because I do not want your display.
I want the key.
I do not need to stand before your glass
and admire everything the world already sees.
I only wish to be someone
you trust enough
to place the key into my hands...
Not so I can enter
and rearrange everything inside.
Not to fix every broken thing.
Because not every crack
needs to be repaired.
Not every wound
is asking to be healed.
And not every sorrow
needs to be silenced.
Some things simply need
a hand that will stay beside them.
Because every flaw you call a flaw
is perhaps the most honest part of you...
The part that never learned
how to pretend
that everything is alright.
So let perfection belong
to those who admire you
from the cold distance of the world.
Let them love
what they can see.
But I...
I ask with my whole heart...
Let me love
what you hide.
Let every scar,
every trembling corner,
every piece of yourself
you are afraid to show...
have a place with me.
Because perhaps that is where love truly begins...
When it finally stops admiring
what the eyes can see,
and chooses instead
to sit quietly beside
what the heart has spent so long
trying to hide.
