the walls were bulit

CC BY
The walls were built with whispered words, “I love you” but every corner turned To dark, and every sky was bruised, not blue. I walked on shards of shattered glass, To keep your fragile peace intact, I gave away my own reflection, and lost myself within The act. You fed me drops of poisoned rain. And told me it was water pure, You broke the anchor of my mind, then swore you alone could cure. The heavy Air, the endless blame, the shifting lines of wrong and right. I shrunk To fit inside your palm, and let you eclipse all my light. But Something stirred beneath the ash, a quiet spark you couldn’t Drown, I realized the pedestal was just a cage you called a crown. I saw the strings attached to me, I felt the weight of all the lies, And for the first time in the dark, I opened my eyes. It wasn’t Loud, the day i left, no grand parade, no final fight, just steady Steps toward the door, and walking out toward the door, I left the ghost of who I was, the shadow that made me be, I trapped in your endless storm and finally set the prisoner free. The silence felt so strange at first, without your thunder In my head, but now the peace is taking root, where all Your bitter seeds were shed. I’m breathing deeply once again, The poison fading from my blood, I saved myself from drowning there, and walked away before the flood.
