The Way Love Should Be
I want you to know,
That I'm happy now.
Happy your gone,
No longer can you bring me down.
You started off treating me kind,
Making me think that you were all mine.
But once I was taken under your spell,
You pushed me far too deeply down into hell.
You told me that because I loved you,
I'd do what you say,
I'd take the pain,
I'd please you that way.
Because I loved you,
I'd show you all of me,
I'd give you all of my innocence,
Because that's the way its supposed to be.
But I stood my ground,
I didn't let you win,
You were no longer the ball and I was no longer the pin.
You said goodbye and I felt lost and incomplete,
I felt as though,
you had stolen a big part of me.
I built myself up,
and I took the loss,
As whom would truly love, at too high a cost?
I found a new love,
And he is all I ever need,
He treats me like his queen,
and he is my king.
I never have a doubt,
I never feel pain.
Because I love him,
He is to blame.
I know what love is,
As it is what he gives to me,
There is never a dull moment,
and our lives are lived the way they should be.
I know he loves me as I love him,
And love should be spread and should never run thin.
