In Their Mind's Eye By Asia Thomas

In Their Mind's Eye

Asia Thomas

We as soul sisters

Have the color of gold

Bronze of old

Hips so bold

We sound of

Confidence

In various tones

The deaf can’t ignore

We create businesses

Braid hair so tight

Nefertiti cries in her tomb

We make money moves

With our grease and combs

Send our kids to school

With knowledge in their headaches

And wisdom crisper than their hairline

We create headlines

Yet somehow

In their mind's eye

We are the real problem

They can’t solve

The salt in the sea they can’t dissolve
