Theme for English A
The Instructor said,
Go home and write
A page tonight.
And let that page come out of you---
Then, it will be true.
I walk these halls,
It is my daily routine,
Go class to class scurrying to my seat,
I find myself one of many waiting for destiny,
Yet I can’t help to feel untrue,
Restricted to be one, with myself.
As I write this poem, my pencil freely flows,
Today I made a choice I will not deliver what you know.
I’ll set myself free to swim in the empty seas,
I’ll climb the mountains full of Tyranny,
Summer slat through ancient lands and appreciate,
their culture that we don’t understand.
I want to reach out to the moon,
So it can share all its glory and it’s truth.
I want to flourish into the unknown,
Not be part of this uniformity we call home.
Yet I have to say I love it so.
My eyes are tired of black and white,
To not hear the cries from the night,
I guess I analyze everything to much.
But that’s just a part of me,
I guess it’s not easy to say the truth.
You hide for so long,
It no longer makes sense to you,
So let me try…
I like the arts,
The tennis courts out in FIU,
The ones I play with a boy, girl, or two.
I love to read novels that seem to long,
I like to feel invincible,
I like to watch, to see and hear movies that bring you tears.
I guess I’m like many of you,
Put me the Beatles and I get lost in the tune.
To tell you the truth,
I’m not sure where life will take me,
I’m not sure who I am completely,
I know my family tree and,
My roots that have spread.
I know my likes and dislikes,
However, that’s just the generic side of me.
But for now I’ll LET IT BE!
This is my page for English A.
This was my first poem,
That day I was inspired, can’t you tell?
And now that time has gone by,
I reread these lines with pride.
With turns and fumbles I stand today,
Finally following the path that I laid,
I might not have all the answers quite yet,
But today I feel like a different girl than the one you just met.
