Theme For English B

The instructor said,
Go home and Sing, Write and with your hands; show everyone your interpretation of the song in your heart.

And when you have nothing left to show, be happy for when you die… you can rest assured that you left your mark on the world and its people even if it is small.
Then when it’s time to leave, make sure you go on an adventure.

I wonder if it’s easy to show what you truly are. To reveal the hidden emotional reservoir that lingers deep in your soul, and have others appreciate what you’ve shown them.
I am Seventeen, misunderstood and still changing. Change is nature they say, but is Change always for the better? These silly things I ask myself, often keep me wondering.
I went to Hawaii, then Arizona and now here In Granada hills’, California. Cali being the place I love to call home. It’s not easy moving… but then again it’s not easy becoming a part of something great…maybe even beautiful.

To this class and place, I write to thee, a poem of my originality. A poem invoking the emotions I dare show, while giving me the courage to go out and show how I am not what you think.
The body grows older every day we spend, the time which God has given us grows shorter and somehow in these 100 years we’re given we have to accomplish something. Something that gives us the three things we want and need: Love, protection and soul.
Through the country club, down the hill to Rinaldi, cycling down to Zelzah I go to the place some call Hell, but I call Refuge. When I leave I go to a park, where I think, dream and let the soothing touch of music take my soul to new heights   and where I write this page:

It’s not easy  to write this thing… This poem. I’d rather be working on my story, a fiction where I can let my creativity and I run free with delight. But life is cruel and harsh only giving freedom when it is earned, so at the park I sit writing out my heart, my mind and soul into something called “Theme for English B”

At the park I feel the wind running over my shoulders and up to my hair. Here is where I feel free; big open land with a view of the city; smiling to myself I whisper the words that bring me back to earth and to this paper, “ Soon I’ll be another wave in the ocean destined to disappear”
I feel and see and watch music, it’s everything to me. Music: God’s most important creation but Man’s most amazing invention it’s a power that we all have it makes us unique and different (while making us all the same) we sing it, we dance to it some of us… even make it.
Well I like to think about the small things in life and sometimes the big... somehow only when I’m stuck in the shower do I think about life and it’s grad magnificence  and only there do I realize that I’m small and minuscule compared to the universe. Yet as I realize how small I am I know that this place we call Earth… was once a part of some bright star giving life to other planets and early formed civilizations. We too came from stars.. maybe that’s why we aim for them in our life goals… because we wish to return home where we belong, maybe that’s why Heaven is up in the sky. Maybe… we just got grounded long enough to realize that though small, we on the inside are as big and as magnificent as the sun.

I like to dream, to laugh, to work and to be me… whatever that means. Life is too short for us to be put down by others, that’s why I laugh instead of crying, why I smile instead of frown. Because I refuse to be put down, I bottle up the emotions people normally exert like anger, sorrow and grief and do my best to turn it into art. Whether it is by writing, by singing or by moving my hands to the flow of a song.

I guess being a part of the contradictory group known as the Goths has changed me for the better and opened my eyes. It has taught me so much, and made me forget old ideals. A Goth’s nature is fraught with contradictions. We’re hard-core romantics, dreamy realists and cynical idealists. We find beauty in the macabre while seeking fairness and tenderness in our daily lives. We love all things ancient, while being modern and liberal in our social outlook. We’re intelligent and creative without being cutthroat and competitive. We’re angry yet peaceful. We’re sure of ourselves but wary of strangers and funny but bitter.

The same things are true for you. You belong to a group in society that has taught you what you want to know. We all diverge onto separate routes, and we all reach the destination we want when we want. That’s what makes us all the same… but also completely different. It’s just you being you.

So will my page be written down as an inspirational piece of writing? Probably not, but the only thing that matters is that the audience even if it’s not enthusiastic to listen has listened and has understood what you try to say.

Being me it will not be perfect, nothing ever can be.
But it will be,

A of part you. The final part that could make you better, possibly even perfect instructor
You are human… we all are and that means we’re capable and full of flaws.
Yet we learn from others and from ourselves and grow… to be better for ourselves and for those around us.

That’s the true beauty of being human, we better ourselves… we reveal ourselves… and we help someone else realize something important.

Sometime, perhaps it doesn’t work and the audience learns nothing or realizes nothing…
But inside them, they hold the seeds of perfection for someone else.
Humans are fickle and sometimes cruel

But that’s who we are so let it be.
Just remember, whenever you’re feeling down,
We are born of Earth and made of Stars
Trying to return home. So break the earthly shackles
Spread your wings soar, shine and be free
