Then & Now
Then
He loves games
Playing hide and seek
Wherever I hide
He finds
Whenever I run
He chases
His caresses make me shudder
Moods like the changing weather
Pleasant skies then rolling storms
Why should I be afraid of going home?
If I could, I'd tell him the story of how we met,
How I was dreaming of rope necklaces
When he came along
Of how I couldn't tell up from down, left from right
his words from lies
When we met
Of how I would have killed to talk to anyone other than myself
When he came
and set his attention as the irresistible bait
Of how he caught me and trapped me and ra-
And there he comes through the door
And now I'm wishing for stray bullets
And praying for car crashes
I'd tell him how his stare makes my heart race
But fear stole the words right out of my mouth
So you've got me hiding these words
and these tears and these thoughts
I'm Falling asleep, lullabied by hopes of never waking up
His kisses gave me anxiety attacks
The marks of his feelings lie strategically placed on my body
He holds the key to my release
He knows just where to get me
Now
Old pains are collecting dust
Tears are bottled and put away
the dark races to catch up but I'm sleeping the night away
Love is knitting it's cozy warm sweater around me
Everything before now is just a story
that I folded up and put away
Love is sealing up my mouth, eyes, ears and nose
overflowing
I'm blind, deaf and speechless but I don't care
As long as I have you,
the ink that flows through my pen will never run dry
I'm simply falling apart and growing anew
you're writing my story into a fairy tale
now rain doesn't know where to have me
You're the blue gleam reflecting the city on the windowsill
I'm giving everything, race you for that ring
kisses healing stitches fading scars
touches bringing darkened eyelids closed
Holding Hands under Street Lamps
Full Blue Moonlight
Fills my bedroom floor
Side by Side bathed in the Moonlight
Breathing, Wanting more...
