Then, Now, Soon

Then, 20 minute car rides felt like hours

Then, every day came with excitement

Then, school was a big daily playdate with all of your friends

Then, you wanted to grow up

Now, 20 minute car rides feel like 5 minutes

Now, every day brings renewed stresses

Now, school is a burdensome obligation

Now, you want to stop growing up

Soon, 20 minute car rides won’t exist

Because no one has cars in college.

Soon, everyday you will wake up in a dorm

And your sister won’t be in the room across the hall.

Soon, school will be thousands of miles from home

Soon, you will realize you have grown up.
