There Are Birds

There is a bird

Called Fear

A huge, dark crow

Screaming over heart-pounding

Wingbeats, holding you too tight

There is a bird

Called Joy

A rainbow hummingbird

Beating wings like the euphoria of

Your heart as you dart and dance

There is a bird

Called Love

A graceful black swan

Gliding over waters like

Angels glide through clouds

There is a bird

Called Hope

A sweet, unassumming sparrow

Always there, sometimes invisible

And forever chirping its song
