There Was Just Silence

There was just silence.

No more warm fires. No more lullabies.

No more thoughts or ideas. The flowers dried and turned to dust in their vase.

The walls no longer whispered and the chairs no longer stood proud.

The memories were gone and all that remained was a skeleton of its past self.

The dingy odor wafted through the room.

Windows caving in and the ceiling on the floor, pieces from here were moved to there.

Forgotten.

It was all forgotten.

The only source of peace came from the early rays of sunlight

And yet even then, the droplets of light crawled over the room like a snake swallows its mouse; licking up the color as quickly as

everything else

now gone.

No more laughter. No more excitement.

No more life.

     No more anything.

There was just silence.
