Theres Always A Filter
Rise, Hudson, Valencia
Post it on Instagram, see how many likes you get, how many followers you have.
Inkwell, Hefe, Nashville
But is this who you really are? Through the lens, don't you see, its not you or me.
Lo-Fi, Earlybird, Brainman
Its who we want the world to think we are. But why are you trying to impress them?
X-Pro II, Sierra, Willow
You are independent, and you don't need their approval.
I don't understand why we crave this attention, the need to post a picture to show off where we've been and what we've done.
It's not natural. Sure, there is reason to want to brag, if you've achieved something big, or someone close to you, but we live in the era where everyone gets a particapation trophy.
Maybe if we took a step back from the cell phone, the social media craze, the fake "friends", we would realize that we've wasted so much of our time obsessing over something that won't be around in ten years.
We don't need filters, but we put one on when we try to be something we're not, the filter you're looking through is a life you don't necessarily want.
