There's something wrong with us
Change is a simple thing
But it's hard to come by
We're not sure what it means
And we don't really want to change
We breathe life into odd traditions
Like Shirley Jackson's understanding of winning
We're detrimental to ourselves
People who only talk when they're ignorant of a subject
And ignorance isn't bliss because it turns into arrogance
And we use that way of knowing to make our decisions
Like stereotyping people and we just chilling
And the mood ain't killing, just people
Guns don't do a thing they say
It's the person behind them
Using their tools to indent flesh wounds
And sometimes they emotionally hurt people too
Like words are tools and they have meaning
Yet they're given multiple meanings
Like what is context?
Are we referring to sexual orientation
Or describing something as lame
And when you say those things are you just emotionally vacant?
Where's the respect for another?
Your woman, your lover, or how about a fallen brother?
We can be narcissistic and find others inferior
Your subconscious is unconscious when you're delirious
When you see the world as black and white and you're all that's gray
And we wonder why the world isn't a better place
We need to try as individuals not to over simplify what we over complicate
We need to respect ourselves but first evaluate
Have we treated others fairly with dignity not disparity
Can we tolerate others to make a difference?
Like it may not be that simple
But there's wrong in us that's indispensable
And there you'll find the solution
That's all that I'm saying
Something wrong with this poem?
