These Memories

I hold on to these crayon filled memories

waking up to pancakes on sunday mornings

Oh the memories how they're bitter sweet

but nothing will outshine my future to come.

I see your smile and hear your voice through out the day

"Do the best you can and try your hardest."

Is something you'd always say.

"I'm so proud of you" I can't wait to hear

When I reach over for my diploma

with a cap, gown, and a smile stretching from ear to ear.

Mom I will always look to you in my time of need

my times of desperation, the times I will plead

There will be many times I will look to you for help

but there will come a day where I will share my wealth.

My wealth of knowledge, happiness, and more.

I have so much that I could truly thank you for.

Your constant reassurance when I am feeling low.

telling me that I look okay when both of us know I don't.

You told me I was smart, athletic, and capable of so much.

When I had a million people telling me I had no such luck.

I just wanted to say I appreciate everything you do

everything you've done, and everything you plan on doing

because when it comes time for me to leave

I will always cherish these memories.

It started as an attempt for scholarships and it easily became my life.
