These Shattered Pieces

One of these days
Someone is going to come along
and break your heart darling,
leaving you breathless on the curb
as your heart shatters into a million pieces.
But what happens next
defines you as a person.
You can either remain broken,
slowly bleeding out on the side of the road,
or you can slowly get back up,
collecting all the shattered pieces of you
that lay at your feet
as you glue them back together piece by piece.
The choice is up to you.
