They Are Not Me
Hurt and anger born from lies
Death and blood spawned from sins
The air echoes with victimized cries
Another wave of discrimination falls right in
Dirty glances hurtle my way
No matter how young and how pure my soul
Ignorance and hate always ends my day
They think they know the role I play
Explosions and fires is what they see
And no matter how much pain I feel
The majority only sees a villain in me
I lower my head down and wish this wasn’t real
All because of sinful fools
They call themselves believers
The land in which I was born
I am scorned
I hear yet another tale of innocent lives lost
And my heart despairs over their suffering
I am told there is a reason
I pray let it not to be true
They finally caught the sinner
I rejoice with a spark of hope
The moment of truth is about to unfold
I pray let it not be true
I shouldn’t have had my hopes up
The sinner speaks
I say, “Don’t you dare say it.
You’re not one of us”
All eyes on me
They know what I am
I can’t hide it
But I wish they knew my faith is innocent
Our image is burned yet again
By sinners who think they do justice
But all they do is disgrace
They throw us deeper into hell
I fear to walk the land where I was born
Knowing I will be hated for a crime I never committed
Their views educated by what they see from sinners
To them I am a walking bomb
I remind myself
They are not me and I am not them
They may fuel lies about my faith
But at least I know I am peaceful
