They Pushed Me Forward

She had nothing, 

Nobody 

Everybody had left her 

She felt so alone 

Like a lost soul wandering down an infinite desolate road 

The whistling wind being the only voice to talk to 

Looking down, 

Head and heart both falling 

She started letting the ever hungry appetite of darkness consume her 

Until, 

2 pairs of hands reached through the darkness

Pulling her with the strength of Hercules himself 

Her eyes flashed open

Only to squint at the brightness presented before her 

Two smiles were staring at her,

The light around them making the darkness cower in fear 

They held her hands as they continued down the road 

Only this time,

It wasn’t empty 

Graduation

College

A future life all presented themselves before her very eyes

And whenever a monster jumped in front of them

The two smiles cheered her on, pushing her forward 

Giving her the strength to defeat them 

Soon, however, 

She found herself going ahead of the two 

Their pace slowing down and hers only speeding up 

She tried to turn around and bring them with her 

But they stayed in place and only said 

“We’ll catch up with you soon but until then, 

Take care of those monsters for us.” 

They soon disappeared from her sight and she started seeing the darkness again

But she shook it off and rushed forward

Their smiles and encouragement pushing her further than ever 

She vowed to do whatever it took to make it easier for them to catch up

Just like they did for her

Because they were the only ones who pushed her forward
