They say..............

They say were too young to understand love.

They say we’re too young to have a broken heart.

They also say were too old to be naïve.

And too old to be care free.

They say I have to be perfect.

They say I have to be like everyone else.

They say I need to be confident.

They say I need to be happy.

How can you put restrictions on my life?

We don’t play by a rule book: it’s not that clean.

Little do they know how safe I felt when you used to hold me close.

Little do they know how many nights I cried myself to sleep when you were no longer there.

I know we felt love: the warm fuzzy feeling you get, the excitement I got to see you for a mere second.

I know I had a broken heart when I could no longer look at you without completely breaking.

I know I am naïve because I still trust and love.

I know I am care free because I still dance when my favorite song comes on no matter what.

I am perfect because I am me.

I will not be like everyone else because I’m an original.

I am confident because I love who I have become.

I am happy because I want to be.

The world cannot dictate who I am.

The world cannot dictate what I am.

The world cannot dictate how I live.

I say stop telling us who we have to be

We are all unique, we don’t fit to the mold that we call society.
