They tell me i am nothing but that
beat down
broken up
speck of poverty level dirt on that congressman's shoe.
They say I couldn't be a musician
because my beats don't flow
and my soprano isn't whistle toned
and my guitar isn't electric.
They say that to be more than that speck of dirt
or that penny in the parking lot with the fake Cheshire cats grin
that keeps getting stepped on
I've got to be a
skinny Minnie
neon
high-tops
hipster
bieber
white chick who came from nothing.
but i am already something
because guess what
you noticed me.
