They Say

They say find what you’re looking for, like a man You’d think fighting for you mother and family is enough They say work ‘til you lose your bones to the sun and die trying or you aren’t doing much They say fill the well with enough water to keep them happy You’d think a bucket’s enough but you lost years just waiting for your tears to reach the top They say climb the mountains and you’ll be rewarded at the end How do you fit your happiness in the middle of it all when all you have time for is looking for the spec of sugar in the midst of the snow I hear you say, you’ll build a home from all the sticks and stones they threw at you and the shit they spew The empty well is enough for you and not for other’s thirst You’re already a man since you’ve never been spoonfed You say you will fight, but it’s for what’s real and not in this field of beds You say you’re already at the top because you can see it all All the words that they said, and all the words that you had
