They Spoke

Connecticut, Boston, Texas, Oklahoma as well So many have perished but many lived to tell They spoke of the lightening and the terrible thunder the smoke, pain and tears that tore them asunder The spoke of the anger that welled up inside They spoke of their loved ones with heartache and pride They spoke loudly and told us what could have been done The spoke of the battle not easily won. They spoke and we listened, both with heart and with ear They spoke and we came closer, ever gathering near They speak and we tell them the pain is not just theirs They speak and we'll hold them in our minds, hearts and prayers.

This is a poem about the latest tragedies we have encountered. God Bless all of those who are going through the storm right now.
