They Were Right
I knew you existed, but I stayed away.
Everyone warned me about you.
Dangerous, controlling, destruction.
I did, I stayed away- until the night we met for the very first time.
I was hesitant, afraid. I knew the cost.
I knew the risk I was taking.
They said it would be fine, that you weren't as bad as people claimed you to be.
I caved, I allowed you in.
You repulsed me, that first time.
Not used to your ways, I guess. But when I tried to leave, you held me captive.
You lured me closer, tried to make me feel better.
Hooked, Addicted, Infatuated.
We spent hours together.
Every free moment I had, I gave to you.
My lips were always pressed to yours.
Inhale, Exhale.
I didn't realize at first, what was happening to me.
You helped me forget myself, but, you controlled my life.
My looks? My mind?
You took those too.
Molded, shaped me into someone new.
Someone I grew to despise.
I tried to escape.
Imprisoned.
The longer I stayed away, the harder you pursued.
I yielded, I gave in.
One time couldn't hurt.
Your captive I became, no longer strong enough to resist.
They warned me, my death you would be.
Contolling is what they called you- a dictator you became.
My idol.
Inhale, Exhale.
Inhale, Exhale.
Fire.
Cup of hand.
Inhale.
Smoke- Poison
Exhale
They were right.
