They're Depending On Me

Moved from country to city such a culture shock
walked straight thru a gang war almost got shot
Led to church as I entered my teenage
baptized by water by His Saving Grace

T'was winter the 3rd time it happened when
a three car collision car totaled spared once again
On a curvy expressway headed to work
on a rainy day became a hydroplaning jerk

Facing head on traffic
quickly adjusted my steer
got back on course
heart beating fast death was near

In a rage with anger
she did me wrong that day
she understood I wanted vengeance
surprising found out later
she kept them away

Should have learned my lesson
however gun to my head
laid my hands on another
I thought I was dead

It's said 3 strike you're out
but like a cat with 9 lives
what this all about

Death has surrounded me on all sides
lost family members and friends
yet I'm still alive

Lost my 1st child
t'was very hard on me
lost my wife of 23 years
can't escape it I'll never be free

She birthed 2 more before she passed away
their my reason for living unto this day
My daughter now a mother I have a grandson
and son has CP my life is his until I'm done

Blessed to still be here
been resurrected from the dead
a relationship 40 years lost
2 years ago now she I wed

What keeps me going
the things I've endured
and the people in my life
I must be the man that I should

Most importantly my faith
it keeps me strong
my belief in GOD
as HE leads me on

My hope for the world
such a crazy place
I believe it's worth saving
with HIS mercy & grace
