The Thief

I knew she was a thief

On the very first day

Because as soon as she walked in

She took my breath away

I don’t know what it was

But she began to wear off on me

I began to steal glances

One, two, and then three

We began to hang out

We began to get along

It was then that I noticed

My loneliness was gone

On a very special day

I was filled with doubt

I was going to ask her the question

But she stole the words from my mouth

I knew she was a thief

Later when we broke apart

Because as she walked away

She took away my heart
