Thief of Identities

Hello, friend A heartless friend, indeed. The rhythmic beat is not in your chest As it was in hers. She was warm. Her laughter filled the rooms In all of our old friends’ houses. But you never chuckle. I touch you, And trace your every word And admire your intricate design And you are beautiful. You, my friend, Are all I now have Of the woman who was my only hero. And I hate you. You are drenched In not only my tears But those of others who loved that woman. And you wipe not. Dear friend, I ask you your name But you tell me hers every single time. Why is that? Ah, you thief! You stole her being. You are a thief of identities. You’re no friend of mine.
