Thief of the Night

Thief of the Night, Rogue out of sight, How many hearts have been taken? Flattery a knife, Pride without strife, All honesty and trust forsaken. Deception your friend, Every penny you spend, What can you have hoped to gain? Opportunist, then gone Disappeared with the dawn, It seems that your life’s been in vain. Those who you’d meet, You’d promise to treat, You’d speak of kindness, faith, and love Yet those who believed, Unaware you deceived, Now hate or seek justice from above. You may come to see, You regret all your deeds, But now none will be trusting or kind. Not one friendly face, Smiles vanish without trace, When they look at you, evil do they find. The time you will fall, Oh, scoundrel of all, Comes with eternal torture you deserve. Yet, Thief of the Night, Though your chances seem slight, There is a truth that you just might observe. You may fear your fate, But it isn’t too late, Though your sentence has not been delayed. Another has endured, Though innocent and pure, The death that, for you, had been made You try to reveal, An angle to the deal, Yet you’ll find no strings attached as you sift. You have seen His example, Now lift – do not trample – Those who – like you – still need His gift. You’ve now a second try, To live instead of die, No longer a Thief of the Night. Now there’s no time for grief, You are now an ex-thief, And have become a Paladin of Light

I am proud to call myself a Christian: Christ is the most important part of my life. I am also an aspiring writer: though poetry is not necessarily my natural area (I write prose far more), it has always fascinated me for reading.

This is a poem I wrote for home school. I had no idea where it was going when I began, but I sort of like how it ended up. Thank you for reading: I hope you enjoyed it. :)
