Thigh Gap
Thigh gap
As these two words are entered into the search engine of Urban Dictionary
I read the related words: Thinspo, Skinny, Eating disorder,
It is evident the media has successfully launched a new psychological torment
by role playing Webster and giving the gap between I quote "woman's thighs" a definition.
How absurd
For women to fit into the beautiful body branded by the media
that only comes in one size?
This trend
which triggers an unhealthy obsession of comparing and self hating
commences. No longer is “she” confident wearing size 7 skinny jeans.
How can she be confident when she can feel the heat created by
the friction of her thighs rubbing together.
Or when the model wearing the swim suit she wants to buy online
is fashionably decorated with the trending thigh gap?
Does it even matter that the company so obviously
photoshopped the picture of an already starving girl?
No because by now the mind is too busy calculating the total caloric intake of the day
and how many hours at the gym must be spent to burn off exactly,
if not more, of what was consumed.
To bring glory to a sexist, gender dividing, term and
reeling in females of all ages to strive for something only aesthetically pleasing
shows the extent of how poisonous the media has become.
But these words are also entering the polluted waters of the web.
So a little filter will be placed to ensure clean water is spread.
To Girls, Teenagers, Women, or however one likes to identify themselves as:
Two words should never define, put a worth , or value on a person.
Keep in mind
Misery nor guilt should ever accompany the consumption of food.
To starve or not to starve should never be the question.
A thigh gap is simply the gap between two thighs, nothing more.
But if two words still can carry weight over your emotions,
then I will add two more words of influence.
You're beautiful.
And two more
As is.
