the thing is

Do your lips burn as you try to say my name,

When hers is tattooed to your tongue?

Do your eyes ache for admiring my beauty,

When hers is branded into the back of your eyelids?

Do you find yourself daydreaming about the taste of my kiss,

Or did she bite away all feeling fro your mouth?

Do your ears long for the soft tone of my voice,

Or are they deaf to anything but the sharp edges of hers?

Do your bones call out for her as they walk towards me?

The thing is,

My lips burn when I say your name,

As my tongue shapes into the letters L-O-V-E

My eyes ache for admiring your beauty,

As I brand it into the back of my eyelids

I find myself daydreaming about the taste of your kisses,

As they suck all feeling from my mouth

My ears long for the sharp edges of your voice,

As they cut into the soft tone of mine

The thing is,

My bones scream for you in languages I have yet to understand

The thing is,

I hear your bones cry out in the night, but they do not cry for me
