This Thing Called Life

Fresh out of the warmth and safety of your mother's womb, Your first sense of pain is a smack on the bottom by the nearest doctor in the room. This is it the big clock starts ticking and ticking, never know when it'll stop for you . The first few years, being trained and cuddled , life seems simple, no sweat no real tears Your next few years you learn what it is to have minor responsibility but your still innocent and careless Constant toys and playing , you only know positivity . Poverty is a foreign language to you, real has pain yet to hit you. Fast forward to your preteen years, you're in a rush to get older , slow down young one, growing up is a trap they say. But who cares, we slip in to the teen years and that's when reality reveals itself in full swing; the gruel of acne , the misery of heartbreaks, the ugly truth about real friends all jab you in the back million miles per second. Trying to find yourself in the mirror, the fear of being a stranger in your own skin. Your just a teen , so your problems only seem meager to the blind tainted eyes of the grown up zombies who've lost their youth in the midst of a weary 9 -5 job and bills. So this is the part when life grabs you in the clutches of its vile grip and slams you face first into adult hood . Don't laugh, don't frown, don't yell, don't complain, don't lie, don't be too harsh, don't avoid payments , pay your taxes, don't go to work late, don't clock in too early .... blah blah blah rules rules rules; pretty much just sit there and breath responsibly. Then life takes its death grip on your shirt collar and drags you through the mud into your middle ages, so now you're really trying to climb back down that latter to re-live your youth. Dye your hair blue, buy a sports car, mechanical bull... all the things you know you really shouldn't be buying because your husband or wife is highly embarrassed that the neighbors stop and gossip to one another about how ridiculous you've been behaving. So now you're old and gray , your grandkids come over to beg you for unecessary gifts . Your teeth are now removable , and bingo is the new highlight of your day. Yet in this thing called life, we're the creator , we have the clay to mold ourselves and we're the sailors to lead our own ship in the best direction possible. In this thing called life, we must live to our fullest capacity, because this thing called life , we only get one.
