This Thing We Call Life

In life we will all make many mistakes.

And we should never forget those we’ve made.

Lessons learned about give and take.

In the lake of knowledge we all shall wade.

Never cease to live like there is no tomorrow,

Yet remember that tomorrow will soon be here.

Although we never know when our hearts shall be condemned to sorrow.

Rejoice in those moments for you still have life and loved ones near.

Death one day will creep beneath your door.

Maybe while you sleep or relax in your cozy rocking chair.

It will come in silence, or noise to take breath, never more.

And you shall let go of the grass and drift upward in the air.

Afraid to let go, you should not be for your journey is not complete.

Go onward to new horizons that wait beneath your feet.
