Things
I’m bringing you what you gave me: nothing
Bound together with the strings of potential and possibility is
this gift so precious to you that you carry it in your heart just for me: nothing
So dear to you is this, this....unfathomable yet quite simplistic idea, that you would accept just that in return: nothing
But being of something has taught me to observe the ‘things’ around me.
I saw how you held on so tightly, so that you wouldn’t lose it.
For losing that prized nothing would cause you to lose everything.
So you hang on to this: nothing
Having giving it and receiving it all your life, that is all you know: nothing
And knowing nothing
has left you in the dark with it
has molded yourself into it
has made you apart of it and it apart of you
has touched you in a way that you have touched others with it
in your sick and twisted fantasy land
because in all reality
you haven’t touch a thing!
For hearts don’t warm at the touch of nothing.
And so I bring you what you gave me
Because although I have the power to turn that beloved nothing
into something
I won’t.
For you, who has everything in that nothing
will not know what to do with something.
And although I, I who have something,
I who have acknowledged the potential and possibility of things
am in my own darkness
Because since I haven’t made it out of the dark
And have only acknowledged and not experienced the full potential and possibility of things,
I, have yet to discover anything...
