Things Forgotten.

The decayed rose sits upon the shelf

above the window.

The curtains are drawn open

letting in the sun.

The bed sheets still tucked in

pillows still unmoving.

Dust has gathered on the table

from the stilled air.

Mice have nibbled the upholstery

no one to shoo them.

Pencils grouped on a desk

no more words to write.

Pictures in the hall

faded and ripped.

Wallpaper long outdated

patterns from years past.

Upon the table sits a glass

fated to be empty.

A television in the corner

still has antennas.

It is just a building of wood.

no longer a home.

The family is here no longer

just got up and left.

And in their wake,

things forgotten.
