Things He May Not Know
Sometimes my body moves faster than my mind
Sometimes my heart falls faster than I'd like
Be careful, watch your step
You might fall out of line
Stuck in some invisible cage dropping through time
You can't seem to focus and you thought that you were fine
But the next place you woke up at wasn't the last place you were lying
So it wasnt what you planned; far from it actually
But you could tell that this was something he had been factoring
So you get mad, it's understandable
To think that he had that on his mind the entire time; what a cannibal
Disgusted and broken, you left as soon as you could
But not two days later, you miss things that any best friend would
The inside jokes, back-cracking, and late-night talks
Sharing songs, saving seats, and random-get-out-of-class walks
Trading iPods, sharing candy, and help with class work
He always understood it all and could sometimes be a jerk
But he filled me in on stuff I'd miss while I was half asleep
Because he knew the night before I had quite the opposite of a dream
He listened to all my stories and I listened to some of his
He'd let me talk for hours and could pass my end-of-story quiz
He knew my situation with this boy that I had liked
He knew that it was mutual and he knew that I was siked
I could tell that this was something that he didn't want to hear
So I gave into a little flirting just to ease his fear
Things with the other boy started to become official
So I tried to stop the flirting but got no where little by little
And for the final warning, I gave the silent treatment
The last weapon that I had and by now this was no secret
I held it for awhile until I finally burst
I missed my best friend too much and id began to hurt
But by now it's awkward and I wouldn't know where to start
So much has happened since we last talked and I'm scared you might still be tart
But I'm willing to open up again if you're up for what we had
With one simple little rule; no flirting, not even a tad
