Things Remembered

My Grandpa saw the stars at night.

They twinkled brilliantly bright.

My Dad saw less stars in his youth.

He never questioned his truth.

I stare up at our night sky and see

How many stars?

Two? Three?

What am I leaving for my legacy?

A night sky glazed as far as the eye can see.

A night sky blander than the sea.

The moon alone shines for me.

What will shine for our posterity?
