The Things They Say

The things they say…

“Hands up” is a phrase policeman often say.

“Kill the innocent black” man is also a game often like to play.

I wonder if they will understand what kind of harm that does…ehh maybe one day.

“Yes, my hair is real” is a phrase black girls’ often say

“Let’s pull her hair to see if it falls out” is a game white people often like to play.

I wonder if they will understand that, saying that makes it seem like black girls can’t grow real hair…ehh maybe one day.

“This land is stolen” Native Americans often say.

“Let’s ignore the fact that native American culture and its people were basically wiped out and are endangered” Americans like to say

I wonder if Americans will ever understand this is their land…ehh maybe one day.
