Things You'll Never Know
You said you’d take my shattered heart
And make it whole again
But all you did was make it worse
And left me here in pain.
I can’t believe I bought that crap,
Those nice, sweet things you said,
Cause now I sit here all alone,
With memories gone wrong.
I dread each time I see your face
It just brings back the pain.
I’ve cried and cried a thousand tears,
But it still won’t change reality,
You never really, truly cared
But for your selfish desires.
You used me, and manipulated
My poor, young, naïve mind,
And I began to fall for you
And think of you as mine.
As soon as I so foolishly,
Believed you love was true,
You took my heart and mangled it
With no sympathy or regret.
And even now you still do try
To force me into thinking,
That we could ever possibly
Be more than just “good friends”
For one night or two alone.
You try to take advantage
Of my limitless compassion
And against my better judgment,
I tend each will and whim.
I just cannot wait for the day
That someone comes along
And hurts you oh so much
Cause you deserve it so.
I fell so hard for you that time,
That when you let me go,
I hit so hard my heart broke more
Than any time before.
Now back into reality,
I now have come to know,
That I am still in love with you,
But you don’t feel the same.
I disguise it with a smile
That I plaster on my face,
To satisfy the others
Who care for me as you.
I wish you’d see right through it,
And try to help me out,
But I know that you’re oblivious
To my feelings deep inside.
I never thought you’d be that guy,
Worse than all before.
But then you tell me “sorry,
It was all a big mistake”,
And im confused
About what to do,
What am I to say?
That we can just forget about
All that you put me through
And go back to that sweet time
When we both fell in love?
Those days are done
And come no more
I won’t let myself forget.
You screwed it up,
And now it’s done
I hope that you are proud.
You consistently and rudely
Mess with my head and heart
And yet I still go back to you
Like best friends all the same.
One of these days, I might just try
To take a stand against you
And treat you as you treat me now.
Just like you’ll never matter,
And I’m too good for you.
I know I’ll find a better man,
One who’ll treat me right.
But just for now,
Our “friendship”
Is the closest thing I’ve got.
So I’ll just keep on smiling
And pretending that I’m happy
But deep inside
I know you know
That this is not forever.
I fear the day, and cherish it,
The day I’ll be set free.
