Think

Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
But knowledge is not something you can lend to me.
As Lisa Bloom stated in "Think," her recent book,
25% of females care not about social reform, rather how they look.

What if we all took a little time each day to think?
Our new ideas and insight could make us a link.
A link between countries, cultures and beliefs,
If we took time to read, maybe we could be their relief.

Television stations give us what we ask for,
Celebrity gossip is prominent inside every news story's core.
Imagine a world where the truth was given to us straight,
Maybe then we could help change another person's fate.

If I had the power to change one small thing,
I would make knowledge and reading something to which people would cling.
Never again would the third world nations be ignored,
Volunteers who are ready to help, would be knocking at their doors.

Awareness is the key, and reading opens the lock.
Problems escalate quickly and the victims are fighting the clock.
Will we pick up a newspaper and enlighten our minds?
I hope in time that is a power that I can find.
