Thinking Out Loud
I think too much
I think up
I think down
I think left
I think right
I think all around
I think TOO much
I think about the past
I think about the present
I think about the future
I thunk about the here
The here and now
I think about all of you out in the crowd
What do YOU think of me?
Do you like the way my voice sounds,
The way my hair falls,
What I'm wearing tonight,
What I'm reading,
My heart
That I've spilled
Into this....mobile device?
I think too much
Do you ever lay awake at night
Staring at the ceiling
While you think about every moment
You wish you could change?
I think most at night
When there is nothing to fill my mind
But hum of the electricity in the house
And the what ifs
The what it's kill
What if I was with my father?
What if there was no divorce?
What if I wasn't who I was?
The thinking keeps me up at night
I sometimes wish I never thought
How great it would feel
To have a clear mind
A blank canvas
So serene
But then I think
Thinking makes me smart
Forces me to think a head
And plan
And I like planning so I think
Yeah I think too much
And I've been think since I was little
I thought so much
At age five
That I had 52
Count then 52
Imaginary friends
Keeping me company every waking moment
They all took shifts
I thought my parents
Would last forever
I thought my dad
Was a good guy
I thought I only had one sister
What if Emily were alive?
I think too much
I think high
I think low
I think everywhere I go
I sometimes think too deep
Read into a hand on the shoulder
Or a late night text
I think way too much
But thinking is good
Thinking makes my imagination strong
Thinking keeps the possibilities open
And never ending
Thinking keeps me going
My thinking is loud
Overrun with ideas
Because I am a greater
A writer
A poet
I don't just think
I give life to my thinks
And sometimes
My thinks get me into a mess
But as Dr. Seuss says
I have Brians in my head
And feet in my shoes
I can steer myself
Any direction I choose
And my thinks will get me where I want to go
So I'll continue
Think and wonder
Wonder and think
So I may think too much
They say my head's up in the clouds
But I'd rather be up with the birds
Than stuck in the dirt
I like thinking too much
Think about that
