The Third Path

What is lost when skipping ahead

when leaving a grade behind?

When losing that friend, in stead

gaining academic mind?

Relationships and fellowship,

like something burned, something unwanted

Mathematics over friendship,

A path chose, over and over

The other, frozen over.

It is a pleasure to burn, why?

fire is a trap, enticing, but marred

burn the ice, but the path stays charred

You can take it back! that's a lie.

I ask again what's lost when skipping ahead.

A piece of your mind on the other path,

You may want it back, the origin path

You may hate it, the other path,

But if you change, you'd face your wrath.

And that path becomes, by far, the worse.
